5. Consultancy services for a Study on Opportunities and Threats for Irrigation in Kenya’s Dry-lands and preliminary identification of areas that can be irrigated.
Location:	Turkana, Mandera, Tana River, Isiolo, Wajir, and Garissa Counties. Specific areas included ASAls along river Turkwel, Kerio, Daua, Tana, and the Merti Aquifer.

Achievements:	Identified 30,000 ha of irrigation potential land within the 6 counties based on the existing data on soil, river flows and rainfall. Carried out economic and environmental viability analysis of irrigation development; Determined the potential impacts of irrigation development along the rivers and Merti aquifer; Established the potential risks of irrigation development with reference to depletion of the aquifer and downstream flows, agriculture and pastoralist conflicts and the associated negative social impacts;
